Україна буде однією з країн, чиї представники змагатимуться під час Всесвітнього Конкурсу з нейронаук Brain Bee.

Змагання відбудеться з 2 по 7 серпня у Вашинтоні (США) в рамках З'їзду Американської Психологічної Асоціації.

Конкурс має три рівні. Близько двохсот локальних змагань, кожне з яких об'єднує учнів кількох шкіл, проводиться в усьому світі. Їхні переможці змагаються в регіональних (національних) конкурсах, кращі з яких мають право представити свою країну на міжнародному рівні.

В Україні Brain Bee організується з 2012 року Українським Товариством Нейронаук за підтримки Інституту фізіології ім.О.О.Богомольця та НЦ «Мала академія наук України».

Цього року національним чемпіоном стала Анастасія Цимбалюк з гімназії №14 імені Василя Сухомлинського міста Луцьк. Вона цікавиться різними сферами біології, сучасними науковими відкриттями, а також вивченням іноземних мов. Своє навчання Настя продовжить в одному з вітчизняних університетів. Її участь у міжнародному змаганні стала можливою завдячуючи фінансовій підтримці МАН.

Учасники конкурсу змагатимуться у знаннях будови та функцій головного мозку, включаючи такі теми як інтелект, емоції, пам'ять, сон, зір, слух, хвороби Альцгеймера та Паркінсона, шизофренія, тощо.

Їм будуть запропоновані письмові та усні завдання, лабораторні тести з анатомії та гістології, включаючи аналіз реальних препаратів головного мозку. Також вони будуть моделювати роботу лікарів, демонструючи уміння визначити хворобу за симптомами, у «хворих», яких гратимуть спеціально підготовлені актори.

Переможці отримають грошовий приз, сувеніри та право представляти Brain Bee в усьому світі. Головною метою конкурсу є мотивування талановитої молоді до вивчення будови мозку та спроба надихнути їх розпочати свою кар'єру в галузі нейронаук. Майбутні фахівці у цій сфері потрібні людству, адже зараз існує більше тисячи різноманітних неврологічних та психіатричних розладів.
